Luis Ruben Gallardo Lorenzo

Born in Linares and settled in the city of Córdoba, he is considered to be one of the most eclectic violinists in Spain today. His projects range from Classical Music to Rock, Jazz, Tango and Flamenco. Recognized by the critics and the academic world for developing an expressive style of his own, based on profound investigation into sound textures, articulation and a particular vision of the agogical at the service of compositional architecture.

Doctor of the University of Cordoba and Professor of Violin of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Cordoba, he works as a teacher and researcher at universities in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

His artistic debút came at the age of 12 and he has since performed in fifteen countries and worked as a soloist, arranger and performer for the record companies EMI, Universal, Audivis-Valois, BMG-Ariola, Avispa and Ambar, as well as for CanalSur, RTVE, BBC and Manos Unidas, receiving outstanding distinctions and national and international prizes for his work.

In addition to an extensive production of scientific articles, academic papers and curricular materials for schools in Spain and Latin America, he is the author of three books: "The Pyramid of Tuning" (University of Córdoba, 2007), "Del Gradus ad Parnassum to "Scientia omnia vincit" (CEJA-CSM "Rafael Orozco", 2013) and - together with Doctor Estévez Gualda of the UCO - "Rock and Education" (Diputación de Córdoba-AEIAP, 2014). His colaboration with COPJaén is motivated by the desire to transfer to young generations of Jienenses his passion for musical crafts in general and for orchestral practice in particular, seeking to share his accumulated experience gained in projects such as the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the Andalusian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orquesta of Cordoba and ARSIAN, among others.
