Antonio Guzman Palomares

Born in Baeza, Jaén, he began his musical studies at the age of eight at the Elementary Conservatory of Music "Bartolomé Ramos de Pareja" in his hometown, being taught by Javier Trigos, Rafael Martínez and later by Juan Beltrán.

He continued his studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music "Andrés Segovia" in Linares with Jesus Viedma Moreno, with whom he obtained top marks.

He then went on to the "Rafael Orozco" Superior Music Conservatory in Córdoba with Professor Manuel Jódar. He finished his clarinet studies with Francisco José González, again obtaining top marks.

He has been on several musical improvement courses with clarinetists such as Walter Boeykens, Michel Lethiec, Francisco Jose Gonzalez, Justo Sanz, Silvie Hue, Hedwing Swinberghe, Henry Bok, Juan Carlos Armentia, Radovan Cavallini, among others. He has also taken musical computer courses with Francisco Moya and maintenance and repair courses on woodwind instruments with Sergio Jerez.

He participated in the 1st and 2nd International Chamber Music Festival in Cerro Muriano as well as in the 9th International Clarinet Course "Julián Menéndez" in Ávila in 2004.

In the field of band music, when he was eleven years old he joined the Baeza Band of Martin Morales, specializing in the “requinto” clarinet.

He participated in the Provincial Music Workshop of Jaén from its 9th to 19th editions, alternating the role of “requinto” with that of band leader, and together with Antonio Ferrús, gave concerts almost all over the province.

He has collaborated with bands from the province such as the Musical Group of Linares with which he has participated in several national and international contests where he won the following awards:

1st Prize at the International Music Band Festival "Malgrat del Mar" in the concert bands section..

3rd Prize in the Campo de Criptana Bands Contest

2nd Prize in the 1st Regional Band Competition held in Villanueva del Arzobispo.

3rd Prize in the National Contest of Bands of Torrevieja.

In addition to this group he has collaborated with bands such as "Villa de Canena" musical group, "Santa Cecilia" musical group of Arjonilla, "Ortega y Cortés" of Lahiguera, the "Blanco Nájera" Band of Jáen, the musical group "Pedro Gámez Laserna" of Jódar, among others.

He has collaborated as soloist clarinet in the orchestras of the professional conservatory of music of Linares and in the orchestra of the superior conservatory of music of Cordoba. He was clarinet soloist of the Provincial Choir and Orchestra of Jáen from its creation until 2015.

When he was eleven he appeared on the TV programme "Veo Veo 97" on Canal Sur, which was presented by Teresa Rabal, and performed Mozart’s Turkish March with the “requinto” clarinet. He reached the semifinals.

He is one of the founder members of the Symphonic Band "Ciudad de Baeza" with which he won 1st Prize at the prestigious International Band Competition "Vila de Altea" in 2014. Since 2008 he has been a concertmaster of the Ubetense musical group with which he has performed two solo concerts with Jose Alberto Delgado and Vicente Redondo.

Since 2009 he has been a clarinet teacher of the Jaén municipal music band and of the municipal music school of Jódar.
